Norwegian Ragnhild Thori received the prestigious Azerbaijani cultural award “HUMAY” for her bilingual (English-Azerbaijani) version of the legendary poet Nizami Ganjavi’s “Leyla and Meynun”. In the 24-year history of the award, this was the first time a non-Azerbaijani citizen received it.

Ambassador Skjønsberg attended the dignified opening ceremony of the Shamkir Chess 2014 International Tournament on 19 April. The tournament has been organized in the memory of Azerbaijani Grand Master Vugar Gashimov, who sadly passed away much too early this January at the age of 27.

Ambassador Skjønsberg lecturing on Norway and relations with Azerbaijan at Nakhchivan University. Rector Maharramov Saleh Heydar Oglu hosted the embassy delegation at the university.

Embassy representatives visited Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic of Azerbaijan from 7 to 10 April. Ambassador Skjønsberg and his wife, Ms. Schnitzer-Skjønsberg, took part in the celebration to mark the 90th anniversary of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. The majority of the Baku-based ambassadors participated in this event.
